Kathleen Quinn has a Master’s Degree in Education and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Special Education. She has been in the field of adult education since 1983 and has held direct teaching, counseling and administrative positions. During this time, Ms. Quinn served as the Southeastern Massachusetts Regional Coordinator for the Young Adults with Learning Disabilities project whose mission was to provide professional development to teachers in the area of learning disabilities. In addition to these responsibilities, Ms. Quinn has served as a trainer for the Southeast System for Adult Basic Education Support (SABES), a consultant to the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission, and an educational therapist for private clients. Ms. Quinn’s publications include: Learning Disabilities Resource Kit, A Hands-on Guide to Cross-Cultural Communication in the ABE/ESOL Classroom, and Multicultural Materials for Adult Basic Education (0-4).
Janna Oddleifson M.Ed., received certification as an Orton/Gillingham tutor from the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) in 1964. During the following 17 years she worked as a language therapist at MGH, at Tri-Service Center in Maryland, and as an educational therapist and evaluator for private clients. From 1981-1989 she was an instructor in the Program for the Advancement of Learning at Curry College, a support program for college-able students with learning disabilities. In 1988, Ms. Oddleifson and the Director of Wellspring Multi-Service Center in Hull, Massachusetts, established The Hull Adult Learning Program, an adult basic education and literacy program dedicated to providing instruction and services appropriate for adults with learning disabilities. Ms. Oddleifson was an instructor in the program as well as its director until 1998. From 1995 until 2003, she was a consultant to the Southeastern Massachusetts Young Adults with Learning Disabilities project and also represented Southeastern Massachusetts as a member of the New England Partnership for Adults with Learning Disabilities. She is the author of The Hull Specific Language Disability Screening Process, was a contributor to the Learning Disabilities Resource Kit, and co-authored the article Adult Dyslexics Speak Out About Dyslexia. She has also conducted many workshops on a variety of topics concerning adults with learning disabilities.
